On Saturday, August 10th, the coronation to decide the 2024 Nisei Week Queen was held at the Aratani Theatre in Little Tokyo.
There, Miss JRA Seia Watanabe was crowned the First Princess!!
The cheering squad is also in high spirits!
She looked great in her kimono.
She also gave a confident speech!
And when her name was called as the First Princess, everyone was overjoyed!!
Seia was in tears. In fact, Seia’s leg had hurt so much that day that she needed crutches to walk, but she was doing her best despite the pain. It was difficult, but she did a great job and we were all very moved. Congratulations Seia!
Morgan Mayuko Gee, who represents the Venice Japanese Community Center and Venice-West Los Angeles JACL, was crowned Nisei Week Queen.
Amy Ryoko Kubo, who represents East San Gabriel Valley Japanese Community Center, was named Miss Tomodachi.
We look forward to seeing them work hard as Nisei Queen and Princess with their beautiful smiles over the coming year.
Please look forward to seeing her shine at the Restaurant Association’s event!
